To Italy we go

Friday, march 17th we were finally off to Italy! We arrived to JFK airport literally 4 hours early. It was so worth it though! Once we we were there waiting for our airlines to open we saw STAINER! From “she’s out of my league” one of our favorites movies. We were so shocked we got to meet a famous person! Jordan and tj(that’s his real name) took a selfie – I was not in the photo because I was shy haha. But look how awesome  photos is?!IMG_7407

We later met Ben stiller! Who by the way couldn’t take a selfie due to running out of time, but it was nice talking to him for a while. Jordan got his hunting on. Hunting for celebrities haha😂. Anyway, after an hour in the airport we were told we were in the wrong terminal. We still had lots of time and planned on getting lost so it all worked out. We finally got to our airlines and met a very cool lady was also traveling to Rome and has airplane anxiety like me haha! So, then we go thru security and recognize a comedian/actor who Jordan only knows (had no idea who he was) Jordan was near him and said “jim galfgan” and he was not nice to jordan haha. Just not very friendly at all…But what ever…

So, fast forward 3 hours later we started to board our ginormous airplain and my anxiety kicked. I did some breathing exercises while Jordan of course doing it with me but very dramatically. Then, my nerves went away once we sat on our seat. We had a pillow and head phones on our seats. We watched 4 movies during the 7.5 hour flight. It definitely went by very quickly. And just about to fall asleep I get so parched and hot. So I slept about an hour.

At 7ish am we landed in Rome! It was warm and a little damp, but felt good! It’s so green and pretty! We then got our luggage and withdrew the most prettiest paper money ever, euros!!IMG_7403

We then found our gate 1 travel sign and we we’re off to our hotel! Once we got to our hotel we were in awe, it was so “fancy” 😉 haha I always expect the worst and it actually surprised me. We got to our room, we showered and toured around the city until 6:30 pm is when we had to get back to meet everyone. It’s very well kept for having so many tourist. Anyway, we had some lemon ice cream, had some pizza and bought some small trinquetes. Lots of beautiful buildings, churches and lots of people.

It was very fun getting a little lost for a bit until we came to a location with lots of police men and people near the park. Jordan made us go thru it. He is so wild. And I obviously was scared because it was super sketchy. So, then we found a mini mart – bought some snacks and water. There’s no hot cheetos here total bummer but I expected that 😂…

I think we walked bout three miles just around the city. We were getting a bit tired so we headed back to our room and napped for an hour. We then got ready again to meet with our tour guide and our group. Everyone is so kind and happy! After our meeting we were off to dinner! Man, food here  is so light. I didn’t feel bloated or sick at all. Everything was different and not what I am used too, but I am glad I gave it it try. It was all yummy! One thing I didn’t not like is wime. Took the tiniest sip and literally was going to puke. So we opt out and took a selfie instead haha. Now it’s 11:30 pm-need some sleep waking up very early tomorrow for the biggest adventure! The colosseum. Stay tuned 🙂

First day in New York

We made it to New York! Waahoooo!! Definitely the hardest day of my life. We left our sweet little Harper in Denver. Her sweet crying little face broke my heart in million itty bitty pieces. I hate not having her attached to my hip, taking her potty hundreds of times and her snuggles. But we know she’s in good hands of sister and brother in law.

We got to the airport we checked our bags and went thru security instantly. Then, my anxiety and fear of flying kicked in. I was trying so hard to be as positive as can be, but it didn’t work. So, I prayed. We boarded our plane Delta which btw is the most comfortable and the nicest airplain we have ever taken. We had really good ac, lots of movies to watch (trolls and nerve) and the best snacks! The three hour flight went by so fast that I didn’t notice we were landing. I really thought Denver airport was huge, but I was wrong. JFK airport is super huge haha. It was huge enough to have a mini mall in it! I mean Victoria secret, mac cosmetics, pandora, guess and so much more. There was even a huge bar with large lobsters and shrimp.

Eventually we finally got to our hotel. Showered and decided we should see and tour Time Square!

IMG_7359IMG_7346We used uber to get around (sketchyyyy) but it was not as sketchy how I thought It would be…….. once we were ready we checked our gps and said it should take us at least 43 minutes from Jamaica. Guess how long it took us??? 2 hours!! 2 hours to get to Time Square!! Traffic was insanly sloooowwwww!! Didn’t help that I was starving because I get crabby ( who doesn’t? Lol)……. on the interstate we passed three hugeeeee cemeteries within 3 miles. Jordan and I laugh because we were so shocked! I was going to take a photo, but that would have been awkward with our uber driver. Which he wasn’t that talkative. Any way, New York traffic is crazy and louuuud. Many many mannnnyyy people were honking! We thought Denver traffic is annoying. Nope! New York wins! While driving there we saw where the movie NERVER was filmed. we were on the street where Ian was blindfolded and Venus had to help him navigate thru traffic on his motorcycle.

Anyway, we were 1 mile away from our destination and agreed to walk the rest. Which was a lot faster to walk than drive – that’s how crazy traffic was. While walking we saw many unique buildings, cafes, mini marts and lots of food carts. We then made it to time square! It was very pretty, but not what we pictured haha. It’s like a huge, bright mall where anyoneone can hang out. Definitely a cool experience. We saw bat man, who didn’t not let me take a photo with out paying him of course. We never carry cash and glad we didn’t haha. There’s was a lady who tried to sell a rose to Jordan and he was like “no thanks”… then some rappers who were trying to sell Jordan their cd and Jordan took it thinking it was free haha. Then his whole crew started talking to Jordan (while I was hiding behind him haha) about how he looks like an assasin! Jordan was wearing a camo hoodie and obviously New York you don’t see that stuff haha. But man, made me safe that people see him like “don’t want to mess with that guy”! Then, we were offered weed. We told them we’re from Colorado so then he offered coke! Jordan and I said no thanks, turned around and took some photos. There were so many sketchy people and wasnt sure if they were all acting or whatever, but made me a little uncomfortable and the same time adventurous haha…

We were a bit cold and hungry so we walked some more to find a good spot to eat. Nothing really seemed appealing, but those food carts! We got into a cafe, found an ATM and tried some gyros tacos! Let me just say we’ve never had one and wasn’t sure if it would be any good. Uhm, we were wrong! It was super GOOD! The best non Mexican taco everrrrrrrr! It was spicy, bbqish and filling taco we have ever had. And we shared one!

After 20 minutes of viewing and taking photos we decided to have dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. We chose an appetizer nachos of course ;)! And realized we could just share it and man those nachos can feed like 6 adults! We almost ate half of it. They were good though! And the music was awesome. Then follow by a show! Haha we sang and laughed. Our waiter was energetic and friendly! He definitely made our experience in Hard Rock Cafe a good one. I would so come back again.

Finally, we payed our uber to get to our hotel hoping it would be a quick ride there. And it was. We got to our room watch some tv, talked about our day and how we miss our Harper girl. Luckily we were so tired it didn’t take too much to fall asleep. Definitely a day to remember. See you again next week New York! Traffic be nice to us please!

the araves minus one

Ok, not a lot of people know we are traveling to the most romantic place on earth… ITALY!!!  I wanted to make it more Facebook official. & when I say WE, I mean, Jordan and I.  No Harper! Not going to lie, but it gives me anxiety just knowing that I will be away from her for 10 days! 10 days PEOPLE!! I don’t know how I will survive.

Anyway, we leave on march 15th to New York City. I am so excited to be there and pretend I am Blair from Gossip Girl (haha) and eat lots of maccaroons in front of Tiffany’s.  Jordan thinks I am nuts about maccaroons and I think he is right ;). All seriousness, we are more intrested in visiting the Statue Of Liberty and 9-11 memorial for sure.

From New York we are headed to ROME and not sure exactly what we are doing because my hubby loves to surprise me knowing I don’t like surprises. (I am letting this one slide ;).)  Then, we are headed out to pisa, florence and the city of my dreams VENICE!

I am bringing a journal to document instead of hauling my computer around and not knowing if we will have WiFi at any of our hotels. I heard they are very slow pace compared to the US. So bare with me when I add our adventures on here.  For sureee if you know me I will be taking lots and lots of photos so make sure to follow me on Instagram and facebook!

p.s. Send me good vibes and prayers to keep my fear of flying at ease!

First post!

Hello and welcome to our travel journal! We created this site to document our travels around the United States and Italy.

A little about us, we are a family of Four who loves to travel, eat good food and have lots of adventures.  I am Ana, who will be mostly be the one typing our travels. I love photography, TACOS, crafting and long walks on the beach ;).  Jordan, is an awesome husband and father who loves hunting, fishing and baked goods. Little miss Harper Rose is our daughter who is two and a half, loves to sing, dance, lipstick and obsessed with chocolate. Can’t forget about our puppy Loki, he is a loud and obnoxious Black Lab who loves his owner (harper), food and playing in puddles.

Can not wait to write our first post in Italy! Not going to lie, I am a little terrified, but excited to adventure out with my one and only.
